Community Impact
FBJSL Fundraising Projects
The Teen League will assist with the fundraising projects planned by the Fort Bend Junior Service League for the benefit of our local youth and a variety of other organizations within the community. Our members will be donating their time to the following projects and fundraising events: Charity Ball, Cookbook, Glitter & Gloss (hosted by the Teen League members), Pancakes & Pajamas, and the Sugar Plum Market.
Charity Ball
Charity Ball is a formal event featuring a buffet dinner, live entertainment, and silent/live auctions. As a teen volunteer for the gala you will be responsible for helping with set up before the event, signing in guests, acting as a runner for the auction at the event, and take down on Sunday after the event. The next Charity Ball is not until spring 2011.
Cookbook
FBJSL will be publishing their second cookbook - Treasures from the Bend, Rich in History and Flavor - in the fall of 2009. The Teen League will be able to help at the public launch party, sales events, and tastings.
Pancakes & Pajamas
Pancakes & Pajamas is a daytime event geared towards families with young children ages 2-10. The event will feature a pancake breakfast, literature-based crafts and activities, games, concessions, children's vendors, book fair, raffle, and more! The Teen League will have the opportunity to assist with event setup, crafts, games, and other activities offered at the event.
Sugar Plum Market
Sugar Plum Market is a fabulous two-day shopping extravaganza held the first weekend in November each year. It is a fun-filled, two-day event with food, shopping, raffle, fashion shows, and live entertainment. Teen League volunteers are instrumental in helping man various stations at the Market during event days and helping the committee with setup and tear down the week of the Market.
