Community Impact
The Fort Bend Teen Service
League is very excited about the projects planned for the
2006/2007 year. These service opportunities encompass a variety
of ways in which our members will serve the needs of the Fort
Bend community.
During the summer, some of our
members will complete training with the Red Cross in order to
become certified to teach the Whale’s Tales swimming safety
program. Upon completion of this course, our volunteers will
visit area day care centers to share this valuable information.
In August, the league will
have volunteers assist at the Rainbow Room. The Rainbow Room is
a room connected to the Fort Bend County CPS office. Members
will help prepare packages of school supplies for children in need.
Additional projects throughout
the year will include: visits to area nursing homes, conducting
a craft day and a field day for children who are temporarily
residing at the Fort Bend County Women’s Center, working at the
Literacy Council during their annual multi-cultural pot luck
dinner, assisting the Rainbow Room with the annual Christmas
drive, providing elementary schools with a calendar of
activities during Child Abuse Awareness month, and volunteering
for the Fort Bend Junior Service League’s Gala and Sugar Plum
Market events which benefit a variety of local charities.
